Theme in Dead Poets Society

"Change"

I chose the theme "change", because I think that it plays an important role in the plot of the book "Dead Poets Society".

Beyond the story almost all characters change a lot, especially the students who are taught by          Mr. Keating.
The boys who are at first very shy and insecure develop into very independent and confident young men through the teaching methods of Mr. Keating.

For example Neil learns how to not follow the rules of this father through the plot and become a little bit more independent and free than in the beginning of the book, because in the beginning he is restrained by his father and what his father wants him to become.
Or the evolution of Todd Anderson: Todd is very guardedly and calm and does not want to attract attention in beginning of the book but in the end of the book Todd is really open and confident. Todd knows how to write poems and how to read them really good. He changed into a free-minded man who knows how to express himself and who knows how he can prevail himself.
