Neil Perry

My favorite character from the book "Dead Poets Society" by N.H. Kleinbaum is Neil Perry.
I think Neil is a very interesting and kinda mystery person and plays an important role in the book with a tragic ending.

In the Beginning of the book, Neil is very ordinary and does all that, what his father wants him to do. He really cares about, what his father thinks and if he would support what he does or if his father wouldn't support it, so he is a very suppressed character.
Neil's father wished, that Neil becomes a doctor and doesn't follow his dreams because his family isn't that rich as all the other boys' families at Welton Academy and his father wants him to make much money and become influent.
Through the plot of the book and the influence of Mr. Keating and his teaching methods, Neil becomes  more and more independent and wants to follow his biggest dream, acting. He starts to take more control of his life with the help of Mr. Keating and learns to "seize the day".
Towards the end of this book, Neil really changes his opinion on his father and tries new things, things his father wouldn't accept.

As Neil's father sees him as one of the main roles in the  theatre, his father goes crazy and doesn't want Neil to be an actor. He gets very angry, takes Neil at home and is really furious about Neil and Mr. Keating.

At the very end of the book "Dead Poets Society" Neil kills himself with the revolver of his father and I think he killed himself, because he didn't wanted to be restrained by his father and he wanted to become an professional actor, but his father didn't let him to.

Neil Perry is a protagonist and an independant and pressured teenager at the end of the book.
Moreover Neil is liked by many people, has many friends and is pretty much the leader of his group of friends who brings back the "Dead poets society".
After the influent of Mr. Keating, Neil knows what he wants to do the rest of his life and so, unfortunately, he doesn't want to listen to his life controlling father and believes otherwise.
Neil wants to be his own person and wants to live his own life and does not to be "owned" by his father.
